Chest is measured flat, 1″ below the armhole; length from the top of the shoulder to the hem; sleeve from the centre back of the neck. Measurements are Gildan's published specs, ±1″. The Gildan size in brackets is the kids' size number on the label — it is not an age. Gildan doesn't publish ages, so the estimated age is ours, worked out from Gildan's body measurements for a typical child. Kids the same age vary a lot, so go by chest and height when you can, and size up when in doubt.

Height, weight and age describe the child. Chest and length describe the garment, measured flat — double the chest for the way round. Here that is the Gildan 64000B youth tee. The ages are estimates — Gildan publishes none — and the Gildan size is the kids' size number on the label, not an age.

Age is enough to get started. Add a height and you'll get a much better answer — kids the same age can be four inches apart, and the shirt follows the body, not the birthday.

NB fits for a matter of weeks, and babies arrive at wildly different weights. For a group order, 6M is the smallest size worth stocking in quantity — order NB only when you know the specific baby.
A kids' shirt that's a little big gets worn for another year. One that's a little small is worn once. If a child is between two sizes, take the larger one.
A Gildan youth XL tee is about as wide as an adult small but three inches shorter (25″ against 28″), so on a teen it rides up. Past about 14, most teens want the adult tee.
Expect roughly 3-5% shrinkage in length after a hot wash and dry on a cotton youth tee. That is one more reason to round up rather than down.
Sizes are the blank manufacturer's published body measurements and are approximate — kids vary, and cotton moves a little in the wash. If an exact fit matters (a team run, a gift), message us and we'll measure the actual garment before it goes on press.

What sizes do your baby onesies come in?
Newborn (NB), 6M, 12M, 18M and 24M — five sizes covering birth to about two years. The chart on this page lists the height and weight range for each one, and the size finder will pick for you if you tell it the baby's age and weight.
What sizes are your youth t-shirts and hoodies, and what ages do they fit?
Gildan youth XS through XL. Estimated ages: XS about 4-5, S about 6-8, M about 9-11, L about 12-13 and XL about 14-16. The numbers printed with the size — XS (2-4), S (6-8), M (10-12), L (14-16), XL (18-20) — are Gildan's kids' size numbers, not ages; Gildan doesn't publish ages, so ours are estimated from its body measurements. Past youth XL, order an adult small: a youth XL tee is about as wide as an adult small but three inches shorter.
Which blanks do you use for kids' clothing?
Gildan's youth cuts of the same shirts we print for adults: the 64000B Softstyle youth tee, the 18500B Heavy Blend youth hoodie and the 18000B Heavy Blend youth crewneck. The youth long sleeve is the 5400B Heavy Cotton, a different Gildan style from our adult long sleeve. The size charts on this page are Gildan's published measurements for each one.
How do I know what size to order for my child?
Use the size finder on this page. Age alone gets you a reasonable answer; adding the child's height makes it much more reliable, because kids of the same age can be four inches apart. If a child falls between two sizes, order the larger one — cotton shrinks a little in the wash and a slightly big shirt gets worn for another year.
Can I order the same design in kids' and adult sizes?
Yes, and it's one of the most common things we do. In the design studio, pick the tee, hoodie, crewneck or long sleeve, then open Youth sizes under your colour and type the kids' sizes beside the adult ones. Youth pieces are priced like the adult garment and count toward the same bulk price. The artwork is scaled to suit each garment so the print looks proportional on a youth XS and on an adult XL.
Is there a minimum order for kids' clothing?
No. One onesie is a real order. The per-piece price drops as the quantity climbs — the volume brackets are the same shape as our adult apparel.
What colours do the kids' garments come in?
The youth styles come in Gildan's youth colours, named the same as the adult versions so they match: 19 for the youth tee, 19 for the youth hoodie, 10 for the youth crewneck and 7 for the youth long sleeve. Baby onesies come in 17: White, Black, Ballerina, Banana, Forest, Granite Heather, Heather, Hot Pink, Kelly, Light Blue, Natural, Navy, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red and Royal.
Can you embroider a baby onesie?
We don't recommend it. Embroidery is stiff against a baby's skin and the backing needed to stabilize the stitching makes a lightweight bodysuit uncomfortable. Printing is the right call on infant sizes; embroidery is great on youth hoodies.
How long does a kids' apparel order take?
