Frequently asked questions
Will a magnet damage my paint?
Not when it's used properly. The risk comes from grit trapped underneath, so wash and dry both the door and the back of the magnet before putting it on. Take the magnets off regularly to clean under them, and keep them off any panel with existing chips or rust.
Can I put a magnet on any vehicle?
It needs steel to grip. Many modern vehicles use aluminum or composite doors, hoods, and tailgates, which magnets simply won't hold onto. Tell us your make and model and we'll help you figure out which panels are magnetic before you order.
Will it fly off on the highway?
A magnet sized to sit fully on a flat panel, applied to a clean dry surface with no lifted edges, holds well at road speed. Trouble starts when an edge overhangs a body line or a door handle recess and catches air. That's exactly why we ask for your door measurements instead of guessing at a standard size.
What size should my door magnet be?
Measure the flat area on the door and leave a margin inside the body lines. Most work trucks and vans take a fairly large rectangle, while a car door is noticeably smaller. Send the measurements and we'll set the layout so your phone number is still readable from another lane.
Magnets or a vehicle wrap?
Choose magnets when the branding needs to come off — leased vehicles, personal cars, or a truck shared between crews. Choose a wrap when the vehicle is permanently yours and you want full coverage over curves and windows. Our vehicle wraps page covers that side of it.
Should I take them off in winter?
It helps. Remove them before a car wash, before long highway trips in freezing weather, and any time ice builds up along the edges — then wipe both surfaces before putting them back on. Storing them flat rather than rolled keeps them from curling.
